Dear Quy Truong, Parents and Scouts,
I hope this message finds you well. As we settle back into our routines, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible Labor Day weekend camping trip we just experienced, centered around the theme of "Challenge." This trip truly exemplified what it means to grow, learn, and thrive when faced with new and exciting obstacles.
The weekend was packed with fun and engaging activities that challenged scouts of all ages. From the thrilling cooking contest and knot-tying challenge to the scavenger hunt and competitive volleyball matches for the older scouts, every activity brought out the best in everyone. For our younger scouts, rocket building and launching became a highlight, sparking creativity and teamwork in ways that were inspiring to witness. These challenges not only tested our physical abilities but also emphasized the importance of collaboration, strategy, and perseverance.
I’d like to extend a special thank you to the camp staff for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the camp ran smoothly. Whether it was guiding us through activities, ensuring our safety, or providing encouragement, their presence made the entire weekend enjoyable and successful. The kitchen staff also deserves a round of applause for keeping us well-fed and energized throughout the weekend. We are especially grateful to the parents who lent their support, making sure every scout had the resources and encouragement needed to make the most of the experience.
I want to recognize how the camp leaders embraced the changes in the format of the camp this year. Despite the adjustments, they came together with open minds and flexibility, ensuring that everything from the new activities to the schedule flowed seamlessly. Their teamwork and positivity were the driving forces behind making this camping weekend not only work but excel.
I also want to acknowledge some of our silent heroes who went beyond their responsibilities and assignments:
- Tr Dieu-Lien and Tr Kiet along with some other parents frequently checked and cleaned up the bathroom to make sure it’s clean for everyone to use. You are a great example of what servant leaders are.
- Tr Lan, Tr Kim, Tr May for staying up super late working together to prepare prizes for our scouts.
- Many parents helped out in the kitchen. I wish I could list out all the names and all the things they did for everyone to know how much effort they put into this camp. One individual (chi Nam Le), not only this camp but in the last several camps, always took care of our yummy late night Soup Nui and still woke up early in the morning everyday to help with other kitchen tasks.
I know we sort of broke some rules on the quiet hours and among other things and I apologize for that. However, seeing all of the Crews had great bonding time over the campfire behind the kitchen on Sunday night as well as Thieu Nu girls singing Karaoke in the dining area, seeing all of their happy faces cheering and laughing together made me realize that's what camping is all about.
As we reflect on this adventure, it’s clear that the challenges we faced—whether during a mini-game or in navigating the new camp format—only made us stronger as a group. I’m excited to see how we carry these lessons forward, with even more confidence, resilience, and teamwork in our future endeavors.
Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to making this weekend a fantastic success. Looking forward to our next adventure together!
Yours in Scouting,
Tr Denny
Camp Truong Giang 17 - Toro Park - August 30 - Sept 2, 2024
Dear Scout Leaders, Parents and Scouts,
Camp Challenge was an incredible success, a testament to our collective strength as we rallied together to overcome every obstacle. We are deeply grateful for the insightful guidance of our advisor, Truong Nhan, Truong Chanh, Truong Dieu Lien, Truong Di, , and for the unwavering leadership of our exceptional camp chief, Truong Denhi. His innovative changes to the challenges created unforgettable memories for all the scouts.
We recognize that even the best-laid plans can face unexpected hurdles, but through teamwork and resilience, we not only navigated them but also forged an amazing, memorable experience.
As the camp comes to a close, the incredible memories will remain with us. We acknowledge our shortcomings, learn from them, and strive for improvement.
On behalf of BDH,
Yours in Scouting,
Tr. Kim - BDH Secretary
