BSA: 2022: Coyote Creek District Leader Recognition
Congratulate Tr. Minh Doan and Tr. Dieu Lien on receiving the Trailblazer Award from the Coyote Creek District.
Trailblazer Award
The purpose of the Trailblazer Award is to recognize an adult Scouter who has made a significant contribution to the success of their unit and thereby demonstrates the ideals of scouting.
"From my recollection, Tr. Minh Doan joined Troop 689 (LDTG) about two years before I started as a supportive parent in 2017. At the time, the troop was very large and there were many scouts. We desperately needed more leaders. Minh Doan never hesitated to step up becoming the Cub Scout leader, and he had developed many fun and motivated activities for the cub scouts. All the images I captured about him are who unselfishly devotes his time and works very hard using his own resources and skills, giving fun and rewarding experience to the scouts. In addition, Minh Doan engaged with the troop leaders for critical planning, and provided valuable ideas so we could create a healthy, balanced, supportive, and fair playground for the scouts to learn and enjoy the outdoors. I am certain Minh Doan is well known in the troop from children, parents, and leaders because of his character, scouting spirit and devotion. With increasing responsibilities in the troop and hardworking traits, he was overwhelmingly elected by troop leaders as Troop 689 committee chair in 2019, and he is currently serving his second term. I proudly recommend Tr. Minh Doan, to receive a Trailblazer Award in recognizing his conviction to serve our troop and the community."

"There are not enough words to capture what DieuLien Tong has done, built, improved, and continuously supported Troop 689 (LDTG). I am not certain when she joined LDTG, but when I began participating in the regular Sunday meetings in 2017, she already went through many years of leadership and held the position of Troop 689 Advancement Chair. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to work along her side as Troop 689 Crew Advisor in 2019. DieuLien Tong has vast knowledge about scouting advancements, BSA policies, leadership requirements. And she is meticulous in detail. She has always been the champion to find volunteer events, charity works, specialized training opportunities for LDTG, so we could stay on top of fulfilling the expected requirements for both scouts and leaders. The longer I have worked with DieuLien, the more I realized how dedicated, generous, caring, and intellectual she is. With her knowledge, work ethics, and wisdom, she plays a critical role to help maintain our troop qualification and existence. It's my honor to nominate DieuLien Tong for a Trailblazer award, especially for her un-canning contribution to Troop 689's success and starlight guidance to our scout youths into the future."
